Membership

At last count PWMU had a membership of over 300. Many of these members meet in branches, and some of these branches form a Regional association (RA) which meets together perhaps twice a year. A council of up to 12 members is elected by members. Each member of council may serve for five years, after which time they may be re-nominated. Council meets monthly to receive reports from the various portfolios, decide how to distribute funds, plan events and spend time in prayer.

Roles are a follows: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Newsletter Editor, Prayer Convenor, Children’s Coordinator, Hospitality, Promotions & Website, Devotions, APWM Reps, Membership, Bursary Liaison, PWMU Cookbook Rep, Presbyterian and Scots Church Joint Mission Rep and Book of Remembrance and Book of Memorial Donations. Some of these roles are served off-council.

Council members are available to visit congregations, to foster understanding of how we can all be involved in cross-cultural gospel outreach. PWMU is committed to supporting mission coordinators in congregations, and invite them to spread news and events arranged by us.

Events

PWMU events are an opportunity to hear cross-cultural workers on home assignment and our thanksgiving event in August is an opportunity to widen our understanding of cross-cultural gospel work. The country rallies are wonderfully vibrant occasions where country residents can gather, be encouraged and hear cross-cultural speakers.

We want to pass on love for the unreached to the next generations. To facilitate this, Dayspring Magazine is produced three times a year, and an annual Dayspring Day is held in September, with another Dayspring Day planned for the Geelong region. It is our privilege to pass on the legacy left to us by previous generations of women, keen to spread the gospel to people in other cultures. (Dayspring was the name of the supply ship to missionaries in the New Hebrides.)
